What are segments?

Segments are saved filter configurations that define a subset of your contacts. Instead of rebuilding the same filter every time you run a campaign, you save it once as a segment and reuse it. Segments are dynamic — when you use a segment in a campaign, Swiftsell evaluates the filter conditions at that moment and includes all contacts that match. If your contact database has changed since you last used the segment, the audience will be updated automatically.

Creating a segment

  1. Go to Settings → Segments (or Audience → Filters and click Save as Segment).
  2. Click New Segment.
  3. Enter a Segment Name (e.g., “High-value customers”, “Opted-in, Portugal”).
  4. Add filter conditions:
    • Select an attribute
    • Choose an operator (Equals, Contains, Starts with, Ends with, Is empty, Is not empty)
    • Enter the value to match
  5. Add more conditions as needed (all conditions use AND logic — all must be true).
  6. Click Save.

Using segments

In bulk campaigns: When creating a bulk campaign, select a segment under Audience. Only contacts matching the segment’s conditions will receive the campaign. In audience filtering: In the Audience section, select a segment from the filter dropdown to quickly view all matching contacts.

Editing a segment

  1. Go to Settings → Segments.
  2. Click the menu next to the segment.
  3. Select Edit.
  4. Update conditions as needed and save.
Changes apply immediately — the next time the segment is used, the updated conditions are evaluated.

Deleting a segment

  1. Click the menu next to the segment.
  2. Select Delete and confirm.
Deleting a segment does not affect contacts or any campaigns that have already run using that segment. Future campaign drafts that reference the deleted segment will need a new segment selected.
